But above all, he says, solar systems promise greater reliability than their grid-based counterparts. "As we experience more and longer duration power outages," Sklar observes, "more companies are adding photovoltaic to extend their battery banks. With the deregulation of the electric utility industry, you'll find that those companies that can be online all the time for the same cost will get the business." ABDH's green approach to web hosting plays a more central role. "That this web site is powered by solar energy sends a message in our markets, because it shows that this stuff works," says ABDH.
